My friends and I booked a trip out with Rob on Tuesday and I have to say we had a fantastic day. Rob is a great skipper, friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. We caught 8 or more different species with several being personal bests. The Alaminta is a lovely boat, clean and with all you need to fish comfortably. We used Robs kit which was top quality and we had a good supply of rigs and bait. If your a beginner or an old salty I can’t recommend Rob and his team highly enough. Well worth it. We’ll be back again next year to catch the tope that got away

More than enough mackerel to share fairly

We (mum, dad and 3x teenage girls) had a great time fishing for mackerel with Rob and caught loads. In fact we caught so many that not long after an hour we had to call a halt to proceedings – no complaints there. Even better than the fishing was the effort that Sharon made to get us onto a trip at all after the boat we booked originally had to be cancelled because of the weather. Excellent customer service, great fishing an environmental approach all in one.

Booked a 90 minute boat trip from Yarmouth to Alum Bay, and The Needles. Excellent to deal with and easy to book this trip. Our party consisted of both young children and older grandparents. The weather was beautiful for our trip, although a bit rocky on the boat, but this added to the fun!!! The skipper was both friendly, and very knowledgeable. Informed us about all the sites we went by – Hurst Castle, Fort Albert, Totland Bay, Colwell Bay, Alum Bay, The Needles and then around the needles to view the very inviting Scratchells Bay. It was fantastic to view the Needles from the other side, and the skipper gave us lots of little bits of interesting history about the famous landmark. Not only was it all a beautiful site, it was so informative.
Loved seeing the island from a different perspective.
I would highly recommend this trip, excellent value for money. And nice to spend some time in Yarmouth before and after the trip. Fantastic afternoon. Thank you Black Rock Charters.

Booked Five of us for a Cod trip. This was my 4th trip with Rob. Made our way out to the Needles and anchored in Robs Cod hot spot. Did not have to wait long as the Cod were on the feed! The next couple of hours we were all pulling in Cod,Conger,Whiting,Pout and Rays. Barry caught the biggest Cod at 20Ib. Rob was kept busy coping with all our fishing needs all day.Best moment of the day was when we berthed back in Yarmouth next to two larger modern cats which had been out fishing close to us.When we off loaded the 3 large cod there faces were a picture as they had caught zilch!

“Alaminta”

“This is definitely special and unique- It starts with a jam packed tackle shop on the Quay, in arguably the most picturesque Harbour on the Isle of Wight. Rob and Sharon on hand to give up to the minute advice on baits and rigs that were working well that day on Alaminta. I have been out with Rob on many Summer trips, and I must say I am extremely impressed with the professional standard of Alaminta and the tackle available for use. The help given to beginners who perhaps have never held a rod before is unique and to see the pride in Rob’s face when they catch their first fish is worth a million words. I have seen more than one tear in the eyes of a young person covered in fish scales, laughing and giggling with a bag full of fish for later. Then we come to the specimen hunting trips, full day off the famous Needles and other marks, all I can say is I have been fishing on charter boats for decades but recently have broken some personal bests aboard Alaminta. The Isle of Wight Ferry docks probably not more than 30 meters from the Tackle shop- there is lots of local accommodation and probably a different beach to be explored with a café on it every half mile on the road out. All that an Angling trip should be- about time too!”
